Creative digital design professionals lead the creation of digitally enabled design solutions across screen, interactive and installation contexts. They interpret briefs, develop and communicate concepts, build prototypes, manage delivery and balance brand, accessibility, technology and business outcomes. Skills England presents this as an integrated-degree standard, while the qualification row describes the BA/BSc as non-integrated; that source inconsistency makes the exact HE and assessment arrangement a mandatory pre-contract check. Avenor does not present the route as an ordinary standalone EPA.
Higher education providers and employers exploring a Level 6 creative digital design degree and assessment partnership.
- Turn an ambiguous client brief into a defensible creative direction and production plan.
- Create, test and refine accessible digital concepts across relevant media and platforms.
- Lead stakeholders and delivery while explaining evidence, constraints and the effect of design decisions.
Prepare for a fair assessment
Use the applicable plan as your starting point. The following are preparation prompts, rather than additional gateway requirements or a substitute for the assessment specification.
- Resolve the HEP, degree award and exact integration model in writing before a cohort proposal because the official record's degree labels are internally inconsistent.
- Preserve the path from brief through research, concept, critique, prototype, production and evaluation. Separate the apprentice's decisions from team and client contributions.
- Use synthetic briefs or authorised redacted work for public practice. Do not upload unreleased campaigns, client assets, licensed fonts, personal research or confidential performance data.
Plan a useful handover.
Treat procurement as a degree partnership with an explicit clarification item. Ask the HEP to evidence the degree award, apprentice registration and relationship between degree and EPA, rather than relying on the page title. The employer should document briefs, client approval, IP licences, accessibility and confidential work boundaries. The proposed assessment partner must explain project approval, secure review of rich media, authorship in multidisciplinary teams, assessor creative-technology currency, moderation, appeals and continuity. Attractive portfolios alone do not answer these operating questions.
A realistic evidence conversation
Illustrative, not prescribed: an apprentice responds to a synthetic brief for an accessible interactive exhibition. The record includes audience need, brand constraints, three concepts, critique, prototype, accessibility test, production trade-offs, project leadership and evaluation limits. All assets are original or appropriately licensed and no participant identity is present. Use the scenario to test who owns academic and occupational decisions, how complex media is reviewed securely and how personal contribution is distinguished from collaborators and client direction.
Handover checks
- HEP documents the degree award, registration and exact relationship between degree and EPA decisions.
- Employer or client owner approves IP, licence, accessibility and confidential-evidence boundaries.
- Partnership owner records project approval, media access, moderation, appeals and continuity.
Questions to ask before buying
- How does the proposed arrangement resolve the official integrated/non-integrated degree-label inconsistency?
- How will assessors review interactive, audiovisual or installation work securely and accessibly?
- How are authorship, client direction, academic judgement and occupational decisions distinguished?

Map creative evidence
Trace brief, concepts, critique, accessibility and personal contribution safely.
Practise design decisions
Rehearse original questions about evidence, inclusion, IP and outcomes.
Check partnership readiness
Review HE roles, project, media, licensing and assessment dependencies.
Think it through.
Explain your decisions.
These are original learning prompts. They are not live assessment questions, an official mock paper or a prediction of your result.
1. A client prefers a striking concept that creates an accessibility barrier. How would you lead the decision?
Explore a response structure
Explain the affected users and requirement, return to the brief, offer a compelling accessible alternative and test it. Record the agreed decision rather than treating accessibility as a late compliance repair.
2. How do you know a creative concept worked?
Explore a response structure
Define the intended audience response or business outcome, choose proportionate evidence, separate aesthetic preference from observed effect and state the limits of small or biased feedback.
3. A prototype depends on licensed client assets. What can be shared for assessment?
Explore a response structure
Follow the licence and employer permission, minimise or substitute assets, preserve enough process evidence to explain decisions and use a secure review route where the work cannot leave the client environment.
Questions about this standard
Which methods apply to version 1.0?
The official plan specifies a project with presentation and questioning, plus a professional discussion informed by a portfolio. The exact degree integration model must be confirmed with the HEP.
Why is the HE arrangement flagged for clarification?
The official page labels the standard an integrated degree but describes the mandatory BA/BSc qualification as non-integrated. The parties must resolve the current approved arrangement rather than infer it from either label alone.
Can Avenor offer this as a normal booking?
No. This is a degree-partnership enquiry. Approval, HE roles, IP controls, assessor capability, capacity, fees and dates require written confirmation.
